The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "Additive Technology: Rethinking of Building Design, Construction, and Recycling" on Tuesday, July 14, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. This webinar is part of a series of panel discussions exploring the future of our built environment beyond this century. Attendees are invited to join speakers Philip Enquist (Partner, Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill LLP), Lonnie Love (Group Leader, Manufacturing Systems Research Group, Oak Ridge National Laboratory), Roderick Jackson (Group Leader, Building Envelope Systems Research, Oak Ridge National Laboratory), and James Rose (Director, Institute for Smart Structures, University of Tennessee/College of Architecture and Design). They will discuss how additive technology enables us to rethink building design and construction methods.

A recorded video pitch can be used to apply to the SunShot Catalyst Business Innovation contest before Aug. 14, 2015. The Energy Department presented a live webinar titled "New Construction Hybrid-Ductless Heat Pumps Study; Resistance is Futile" on Wednesday, June 24. This webinar focuses on the use of ductless heat pumps (DHP) as a hybrid "all electric" heating system in new high performance homes. The presentation provides an overview of DHPs and includes energy and economic analysis based on monitored field results of an ENERGY STAR community called The Woods at Golden Given, built by Habitat for Humanity. Presenters include Micahael Lubliner with Washington State University and Bruce Carter with Tacoma Power.
