August 6: Live Webinar on H2 Refuel H-Prize Safety Guidance

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "H2 Refuel H-Prize Safety Guidance" on Thursday, August 6, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. This webinar will discuss safety planning and information criteria that should be included in the safety plan document contestants are required to provide. Attendees will participate in a discussion lead by members of the Hydrogen Safety Panel that will review codes and standards, and the need for local fire/building approval requirements. Questions can be submitted in advance to HPrize@ee.doe.gov or asked during the webinar.

August 6: Live Webinar on Fuel Economy Resources

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "FuelEconomy.gov Features and Tools" on Thursday, August 6, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. This webinar explains the features and tools available on FuelEconomy.gov, the government’s official source for fuel economy aimed at helping the public make informed car-buying decisions and achieve the best possible fuel economy from the vehicles they own. In addition, speaker, Janet Hopson from Oak Ridge National Laboratory will showcase the myriad of resources offered on FuelEconomy.gov, highlighting the site’s “Find-and-Compare" car tool which allows users to look up and compare up to four vehicles’ fuel economy, costs, environmental impacts, safety ratings, and petroleum use.

August 6: Live Webinar in Series on Climate Change's Regional Impacts

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "Minorities in Energy - Climate Change's Regional Impacts Series" on Thursday, August 6, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The Minorities in Energy Initiative focuses on the three primary goal areas of STEM education and workforce development, energy economic development, and climate change. This webinar is one of a series of eight upcoming Regional Climate Change Impact Webinars and focuses on the Southeast and Caribbean. Attendees will hear experts provide findings from the Quadrennial Energy Review (QER), energy job strategies, and the National Climate Impact Assessment. As part of the QER discussion, organizers plan to share climate-based findings related to national security, resilience, the grid of the future, environment, grid siting, and shared transport. The webinar will also outline federal energy policy objectives, proposals, and actions, particularly as they relate to climate change and resilience for underserved communities.

August 11: Live Webinar on Reducing Buildings’ Peak Energy Use

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "Analysis Using Fuel Cell MHE for Shaving Peak Building Energy" on Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. This webinar explores the synergy between a facility’s use of hydrogen fuel cell forklifts and reductions in electric grid time and energy use. Attendees will learn how hydrogen fuel can be used to offset grid charges associated with peak facility demands, and will be presented with several scenarios that focus on the benefits buildings can achieve. The webinar also includes a techno-economic analysis and a competitive analysis for this alternative peak-shaving approach.

June 25: Webinar on the H2 Refuel H-Prize Overview and Q&A

Webinar Sponsor: Fuel Cell Technologies Office

This webinar, presented on June 25, focuses on the $1 million H2 Refuel 2014-2016 H-Prize competition, which challenges America’s innovators to deploy an onsite hydrogen generation system, using electricity or natural gas, to fuel hydrogen vehicles that can be used in homes, community centers, retail sites, or similar locations. The best entry that meets all the requirements and scores the highest on the technical and cost criteria will win $1 million. The H-Prize is administered by the Hydrogen Education Foundation and sponsored by the Department of Energy.
