LEXINGTON, Ky. - Joel B. Bradburne has been promoted to deputy manager of EM’s Portsmouth/Paducah Project Office (PPPO).
Bradburne will remain at Portsmouth serving in a dual capacity until an appointee is named to succeed him as Portsmouth Site lead.
Headquartered in Lexington, PPPO also manages EM’s other Cold War-era uranium enrichment plant at Paducah, Ky.
Bradburne joined PPPO in June 2009 to oversee the Portsmouth cleanup. He has 17 years of DOE experience as a contractor and federal employee at the Fernald, Ohio, and Savannah River, S.C. sites. His professional background also includes program- and project-management assignments in shipyard, commercial nuclear, and foreign nuclear site decommissioning, rounding out more than 30 years of experience.
Bradburne has been instrumental in coordinating DOE missions with south central Ohio communities and their future vision for the site.
“In large part thanks to Joel’s leadership, key decisions have been approved to advance to full-scale decontamination and demolition at the Portsmouth Site," PPPO Manager Robert Edwards said.
Bradburne will be responsible for administrative and program management functions for PPPO, the cleanup at the Portsmouth and Paducah sites, and the Depleted Uranium Hexafluoride (DUF6) conversion plants at both sites.
Bradburne earned a bachelor’s degree in biology in 1982 from Bridgewater College in Virginia. In 1996, he earned a master’s degree in environmental management from the University of Findlay in Ohio. He is a certified Project Management Professional.
