Office of Electricity to Host Transformer Resilience and Advanced Components (TRAC) Program Peer Review

On February 1-3, the Office of Electricity will host a virtual peer review for its Transformer Resilience and Advanced Components (TRAC) program. The purpose of the TRAC program is to accelerate grid modernization by addressing challenges with large power transformers (LPTs) and other critical grid hardware components.

TRAC supports projects that spur innovative design of LPTs that will be more flexible and adaptable, increasing the resilience of the nation’s power grid. The program also accelerates prototype development of solid state power substation building blocks that enable new functionalities, new topologies, and enhanced control of power flow and voltage.

A panel of peer reviewers will evaluate the TRAC programs in three areas: advanced grid integration technologies; advanced power control equipment; and, advanced materials-based components. Feedback collected from the peer reviewers and other attendees will be used to improve program quality and individual projects.

Researchers and industry professionals interested in attending the three-day peer review can register here. Welcome remarks and introductions will kick off at noon ET each day.
