Expo Focuses on Safety at Work, Home for Hanford Employees

EM crews at the Hanford Site’s Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) recently held an employee safety expo highlighting information, equipment, supplies and success stories promoting the health and safety of workers both at home and the jobsite. The expo also promoted WTP employee safety teams, helping attendees connect with safety team members and educating them on each team’s purpose.

“The jobsite safety expo helped workers get a better understanding of our safety culture and the importance of being involved in their own and others’ safety,” said Jacob Bailey, senior safety specialist for Waste Treatment Completion Co., subcontractor to Bechtel National Inc., which is designing, building and commissioning the plant. The expo featured a variety of booths staffed by the safety teams that provided attendees with safety information alongside activities and prize opportunities. The groups included area safety teams, the craft safety watch, total wellness committee and Voluntary Protection Program action team.
