Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, met today with Foreign Minister Roberto Alvarez of the Dominican Republic. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and Foreign Minister Alvarez discussed the deteriorating security situation and deepening humanitarian crisis in Haiti and the need for urgent action.
Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield recognized the Dominican Republic’s role as a regional leader on democracy and human rights as a member of the Alliance for Development in Democracy. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield underscored the United States’ commitment to working with the Dominican Republic to address shared security challenges through the United Nations.
