The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Indian Energy is soliciting applications in light of new funding of $35 million for deploying clean energy technology on Tribal lands and powering unelectrified Tribal buildings.
The Department of Energy announced the new funding opportunities Nov. 1, a department news release said. Tribes are encouraged to submit applications to the DOE Office of Indian Energy.
“DOE is dedicated to reducing energy costs in Tribal communities and ensuring they are not left behind in the transition to a clean energy future,” U.S Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm said in the release. “The President’s agenda is making investments in low-cost and reliable clean energy across Indian Country — helping to power Native communities that too often are left in the dark or without affordable electricity.”
