Extra Drawdown at Delaware Lake

Extra Drawdown at Delaware Lake

The Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces that Delaware Lake will drawdown the lake 5 feet more than normal winter pool. The extra drawdown of our winter pool, normally 910.0 feet above sea level, will be going to 905.00 feet above sea level from December 1-15, 2022. This is necessary to conduct scheduled concrete maintenance on the upstream face of the dam.

Normally, drawdown begins on Nov.1 and Winter Pool is reached on Dec. 1.  This year the extra drawdown will expose shoreline and other potential hazards, please use caution. Boat ramps at Delaware State Park including Southwest boat launch and the marina will also be impacted. The Sherwood boat launch in the Delaware Lake wildlife area on Horseshoe Road will also be unusable.

The work is expected to be complete by mid-December at which time the normal winter pool level will be achieved through normal precipitation.

Information about the ramp closures will be posted on the Delaware Lake Facebook page, or you may call the Delaware Lake Office.

For more information, please contact the Delaware Lake Office at 740-363-4011option 1 or the Public Affairs Office at 304-399-5353.
