The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Project will begin seasonalmaintenance of the government property line along the reservoir perimeter of West Point, Nov. 8.
The annual boundary line inspection will not require road or park closures.
Work will begin in Chambers County near Dewberry Park on County Road 288, and progress Norththrough Evansville Recreation Area toward Caney Creek, then South through Holiday Campgroundand back Northeast to Whitewater Access. After completing approximately 80 miles of property line,the work will end at Liberty Hill Access. Major roads adjacent to public land in these areas include:Chambers County 268 and 288, N State Line Rd, Williams Rd, Roanoke Rd, Old School Rd, TurkeyPoint Dr, Antioch Rd, and Liberty Hill Rd.
During the inspection, we ask the public to drive safely as contractor vehicles will be parked near roadshoulders with signs stating boundary maintenance.
The annual boundary line inspection will be performed by East O&M; and can be identified wearingfluorescent orange or yellow vests along with hard hats displaying their company logo.
In addition, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Park Rangers will be inspecting portions of the property lineduring the coming weeks. The purpose of these inspections is to identify any encroachments on publicland and to ensure the line is properly marked.
