Hi, my name is Chris Lu. The last name is L-U. I am the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations for Management and Reform. It’s an honor to be here at this important convening on counterterrorism. I want to thank the Government of India for their wonderful hospitality.
Today’s session was a moving one. We obviously have weighty policy discussions on issues like terrorism financing and emerging technologies, but today was a powerful reminder that this is really about people’s lives. I was moved by the wreath laying ceremony that we participated in, and I was especially touched by the testimonies this morning of the victims of the 2008 attacks. On behalf of the U.S. government, we send our sympathies to the Indian people. We stand in solidarity with them, and we are committed to ensuring that the perpetrators of this horrific attack are brought to justice.
I’m also here in India to strengthen the ties between the United States and India. India is one of our most critical partners around the globe on so many issues, and I’m looking forward to several days of consultations with your officials.
Thank you very much.
