Halifax, Nova Scotia - House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul issued the following statement on reports the Taliban intends to reinstate Sharia law in Afghanistan following the botched U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021.
“Unfortunately, it was all too clear that the Taliban always intended to reinstate the dark veil of Sharia law. This is another terrible consequence of President Biden’s unconditional withdrawal from Afghanistan. The Biden administration, along with the international community, must hold the Taliban accountable for their terrible actions."
