Bapchule Man Sentenced to Nearly Six Years for Shooting

On November 1, 2022, Anthony Manuel, 38, of Bapchule, Arizona, was sentenced by United States District Judge Susan M. Brnovich to 71 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Manuel previously pleaded guilty to Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.

On February 20, 2021, Manuel, an enrolled member of the Gila River Indian Community, shot the victim once in the upper leg.

The Gila River Police Department conducted the investigation in this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Raynette Logan, District of Arizona, Phoenix, handled the prosecution.
