The United States is pleased to join consensus on this resolution. We take this opportunity to clarify our position on this resolution.
Helping human settlements recover from post-conflict and disaster is among the mandates of UN-Habitat, and as such, we are disappointed that this resolution does not recognize the impact of Russia’s war against Ukraine and other conflicts causing urban infrastructure, development, and environmental damage.
Regarding references to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction we refer you to our general statement delivered to the 77th General Assembly Second Committee session earlier today.
