The Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces a temporary increase in the downstream flows at J.W. Flanagan Lake on Dec. 15, 2022 beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing for eight to 10 hours.
Stream levels in the Pound and Russell Fork Rivers downstream of the dam are expected to experience a temporary but gradual rise of up to 6 ft. during this period. The increased flow is necessary so that the J.W. Flanagan Dam’s emergency gate can complete a test as part of the periodic inspection. After the testing is complete, flows will return to normal.
