The director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency led a discussion on the strategic focus for 2023 with the Cybersecurity Advisory Committee during its fifth meeting held on Dec. 6 in California.
Director Jen Easterly praised “the caliber of experts” who are on the committee, which was established in 2021 to give “recommendations on the development and refinement of CISA’s cybersecurity programs and policies,” a news release said.
“I truly appreciate the caliber of experts who have taken the time to participate in this committee and, moreover, for their continuous work in helping CISA become the Cyber Defense Agency our nation needs and deserves,” Easterly said in the release. “I look forward to working with the committee in the new year to ensure we are continuing to build a more cyber resilient nation to confront the challenges we face in cyber space.”

Cybersecurity Advisory Committee Chair Thomas Fanning is chairman, president and CEO of the energy company Southern Company. He said the committee is in a position to make a “meaningful impact” on U.S. security, the release reported
“The committee members and I look forward to providing strategic recommendations to Easterly in the coming year to advance CISA’s mission, as they continue to strengthen the cybersecurity posture of the United States,” Fanning said in the release.
