Kelly M. Fay Rodriguez was recently appointed as special representative for international labor affairs by the U.S. Department of State.

U.S. Department of Labor Deputy Undersecretary for International Labor Affairs Thea Lee said the DOL and its Bureau of International Labor Affairs looks forward to "working and collaborating closely" with Fay Rodriguez in a Dec. 5 news release.

"Rodriguez’s passion for workers' rights and her significant experience working with global labor movements will be invaluable to the success of U.S. diplomacy and the implementation of the Biden-Harris administration's foreign policy for the middle class," Lee said in the release.

Fay Rodriguez previously served as Trade and Labor Oversight Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives' Committee on Ways and Means Trade Subcommittee, according to the release. She also worked as the deputy country program director for Bangladesh at the Solidarity Center and as a program officer monitoring labor conditions, trade union organizing and other labor issues in Mexico and the countries of the South Andes.
