There were 64 press releases published by the U.S. Department of Labor in November.

The most recent press release, "Middlefield contractor faces more than $414K in fines for repeatedly failing to protect roofing employees from exposure to deadly fall hazards," was submitted on Nov. 30.

The U.S. Department of Labor published 61 releases the month before, marking a 4.9 percent increase for the current month.

The Department provides billions in unemployment insurance, which peaked around 2011 though spending had declined before the pandemic. Downsizing the Federal Government, a project aimed at lowering taxes and boosting federal efficiency, claimed the Department funds "ineffective and duplicative services" and overregulates the workplace.

The proposed budget provides a significant boost to the DOL’s funding from $12.5 billion to $14.2 billion, a 13.6% increase.
