House Appropriations Committee Democrats have filed legislation to reopen the federal government and fund the Department of Homeland Security through February 8.
The legislation’s funding provisions are identical to a CR unanimously passed by the Senate on Dec. 19, 2018 which funded all federal agencies through February 8. It includes no new funding for President Trump’s border wall.
If enacted, the Continuing Resolution would fully reopen affected agencies and ensure that Homeland Security employees, including frontline law enforcement officers, receive their pay on time.
The one-month length of the CR would allow time for President Trump to reach agreement with Congress on border security.
