The House today approved, by unanimous consent, a Continuing Resolution to reopen all federal agencies through February 15 and provide back pay to federal employees. The Senate approved the legislation earlier today and House passage cleared the legislation for the President’s signature. In addition to the Continuing Resolution, the House voted to go to conference with the Senate on a funding bill for Homeland Security.
“I am pleased that the government will now reopen and federal employees receive the pay they deserve. As we head into conference negotiations, I look forward to working with my colleagues across the aisle and across the Capitol to craft a funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security that provides smart, effective solutions for border security while staying true to our values as Americans," House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey said.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has appointed the following House Appropriations Committee Democrats to serve on the conference committee for Homeland Security:
* Chairwoman Lowey of New York
* Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security Chairwoman Lucille Roybal-Allard of California
* Congressman David Price of North Carolina
* Congresswoman Barbara Lee of California
* Congressman Henry Cuellar of Texas
* Congressman Pete Aguilar of California
