Burlington, VT - The U.S. Marshals Service arrested a fugitive in Gowanda, NY who has been on the run from Vermont authorities for the last 15 years.
Jason Wendell Alexander, 41, had multiple warrants for his arrest for violating his probation dating back as far as 2004. Alexander was on probation in Vermont for cases that included attempted aggravated assault, domestic assault, and providing false information to law enforcement. Alexander is no stranger to crime. Along with his Vermont history, he has a lengthy criminal history in New York State for burglary, larceny, harassment, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
On Nov. 22, 2019, the Vermont Department of Corrections requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service in locating and apprehending Alexander. According to Vermont Department of Corrections, Alexander was believed to have fled Vermont.
On Dec. 18, 2019 Alexander was arrested without incident by the U.S. Marshals Service and Gowanda Police Department in Gowanda, NY.
Alexander was charged with being a Fugitive from Justice in New York, held without bail, and will be awaiting extradition to Vermont.
This arrest further highlights the partnership and alliance between the U.S. Marshals Service and its state and local partners.
