23-004 Corps ropes off hillside after erosion event at McNary

Officials at McNary Lock and Dam have roped off the hillside on the south shore near the dam due to hazardous conditions created by an erosion event.

On January 6 at 10:30 p.m., a potable water tank on the south shore, near McNary Lock and Dam, overflowed, causing a significant erosion event. In addition to the erosion event, the soils in the area are comprised of fine sand and could easily erode further. Officials have roped off the area and visitors are warned to stay clear until repairs can be made.

Please be cautious around this area and please respect the barriers put in place. For further information contact the Tri-Rivers Natural Resources Management Office at 541-922-2268.
