The Monk Seal Chronicles: Mimi and the “Monk Seal Matriarchs”

NOAA Fisheries works with many partners to protect and recover endangered Hawaiian monk seals. Listen in as we talk with Hawaiian monk seal biologist Mimi Olry, from the Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Division of Aquatic Resources, based on Kaua‘i. In her work, Mimi has watched the monk seal population grow in the main Hawaiian Islands, including on Kaua‘i. In this episode, we pay tribute to the “monk seal matriarchs'' whose lives Mimi has observed throughout her career.
