Seattle Enforcement and Removal Operations officers recently arrested three noncitizens convicted of drug trafficking or possession offenses involving methamphetamine, fentanyl and heroin.
The arrests were part of a nationwide effort held Jan. 23-Feb. 6, according to a Feb. 10 news release. The operation targeted noncitizens in the U.S. with a final order of removal against them
"Our professional law enforcement team made the community a little safer today by taking these drug distributors off the streets," ERO Seattle Field Office Director Drew Bostock said in the release. "ERO Seattle will continue to prioritize unlawfully present migrants who flout our laws and seek to harm our communities."
Among those arrested were a 35-year-old Mexican citizen in Mount Vernon, Wash., who was convicted in December 2010 for possession with intent to manufacture of deliver a controlled substance, specifically heroin with school zone enhancement and conspiracy to deliver controlled substance, in addition to cocaine and/or methamphetamine, the release reported.
Also arrested was a 31-year-old Mexican citizen in Medford, Ore., who was convicted in December 2019 for delivery of heroin, according to the release.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement targets and arrests noncitizens thought to have committed crimes and/or who have violated U.S. immigration law, according to the news release.
In 2022, ERO officers arrested 46,396 noncitizens with criminal histories and 198,498 associated charges and convictions, the release reported. Those associated charges and convictions included 21,531 assaults, 8,164 sex and sexual assaults, 5,554 weapons offenses, 1,501 homicide-related offenses and 1,114 kidnappings.
