Quick Facts

Location:

At the northeast edge of the Town of Tampa, KS, in the northeast quadrant of the intersection of 330th St and Limestone Rd.

Significance:

The trail passes through the cemetery and there are visible trail ruts.

Saint John's Lutheran Cemetery

From the “Crosses Here" sign, a visible swale curves north and east across the cemetery. In the east side of the cemetery, near the Santa Fe Trail limestone marker, several swales are clearly visible running east-west.

Immediately west of the Santa Fe Trail crossing of Muddy Creek, several trail swales can be seen crossing the Tampa Cemetery. The ruts run generally east-west, from the Santa Fe Trail stone post marker, though the cemetery, the “Crosses Here" sign, and the stone monument at the southwest corner of the intersection of Limestone and 330th Roads.
