Special EM Update Issue Highlights 2023 Waste Management Symposia

This EM Update issue focuses on EM’s participation in the 2023 Waste Management Symposia, the nation’s leading gathering of government, international and industry experts on nuclear waste management, held Feb. 26-March 2 in Phoenix.

Waste Management conferences have been held for 49 years, with the first one organized by the University of Arizona in 1974 as an independent forum for discussing high-level waste issues at the Hanford Site. Each year, the annual conference draws more than 2,000 industry specialists and managers from more than 630 companies and more than 30 countries.

More than 2,500 people registered for the 2023 Waste Management Symposia, including 145 college students and 37 Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program STEM ambassadors. Students showcased their research in a poster session, and Waste Management held a job fair at the conference for the first time. The virtual component of the job fair remains open to interested applicants through the end of March so register and find a new career today.
