Cutoff Date for Regional Conservation Partnership Program Applications in Suffolk County

The Peconic Estuary Watershed Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) announces April 17, 2023, as the application cutoff date for targeted conservation projects through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) in Suffolk County for Fiscal Year 2023.

This special funding will be used to address priority resource concerns in the Peconic Estuary Watershed. The Suffolk County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will work together to assist producers in the project area in developing and implementing conservation practices.

The RCPP is a partner-driven approach to conservation that funds solutions to natural resource challenges on agricultural land. By leveraging collective resources and collaborating on common goals, RCPP demonstrates the power of public-private partnerships in delivering results for agriculture and conservation.

EQIP provides financial and technical assistance to address natural resource concerns and to deliver environmental benefits, such as improved water and air quality, conserved ground and surface water, reduced soil erosion and sedimentation, and improved or created wildlife habitat.

All applications are competitive and are ranked based on locally identified resource priorities and the overall benefit to the environment. For more information, visit our website or contact the local field office at 423 Griffing Ave, Riverhead, NY 11901. The SWCD office can be reached at (631) 852-3285. The NRCS office can be reached at (631) 727-5666.
