The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal Plant and Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has determined that the Mexican State of Chihuahua is free from fever ticks excluding Guadalupe y Calvo and Morelos municipalities. APHIS conducted an evaluation of Chihuahua’s fever tick status at the request of the Mexican government. After a thorough assessment and review of documentation submitted by Mexico, APHIS issued a notice of the evaluation that was available for review and comment in May 2016. The notice was available for 60 days and no comments were received. Today, APHIS is notifying the public that the Mexican State of Chihuahua is free from fever ticks excluding the municipalities of Guadalupe y Calvo and Morelos. View the final determination here.
