Jan. 18, 2022Subject: APHIS Adds an Infested Field in the Pale Cyst Nematode (Globodera pallida) Regulated area in Idaho To: State and Territory Agricultural Regulatory Officials On Nov. 29, 2021, during a routine delimiting survey, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed the detection of pale cyst nematode (PCN) in one potato production field located in Bingham County, Idaho. The 97-acre field has been under regulation since 2011 due to its association with another PCN-infested field. This detection will not add any new associated fields to the regulated area. With this change, the number of PCN-infested fields is 32, and the current regulated area is 6,570 acres, of which 3,542 acres are infested fields and 3,028 are associated fields. The infested fields are in an 8.5-mile radius that spans a portion of northern Bingham County and southern Bonneville County. APHIS will follow up with a notice of this change to the regulated area in the Federal Register.
