The Missouri Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) will receive additional funding through the Inflation Reduction Act to boost the start of climate-friendly initiatives under the Conservation Stewardship Program (CPS), providing opportunities to farmers and the owners of forested land to take part in the program and back climate-mitigation projects.
According to a United States Department of Agriculture NRCS news release, the CSP IRA funds will broaden access to money and technical aid for farmers to boost the conservation of their agricultural or forest land.
“With the addition of IRA funding, we look forward to providing greater opportunities to address the unmet demand from producers who have sought funding for climate-smart conservation activities in Missouri,” Scott Edwards, Missouri’s NRCS state conservationist, said in the news release.
According to the news release the cutoff dates for the current fiscal year CSP-IRA Classic programs being offered through the state’s NRCS are April 21 and June 9.
Moreover, the news release also noted that the NRCS will accept applications for its programs throughout the year as part of a competitive process.
The NRCS noted in the release producers can turn in an application at a local NRCS office, where technical aid is offered to all Missouri residents.
According to the news release, any producer can visit www.mo.nrcs.usda.gov or reach out to the NRCS office in their county for additional details and information about how to apply for programs offered by the service.
