The United States Department of State has authorized $350 million in additional military aid to Ukraine to defend against the Russian invasion, marking the 34th drawdown of U.S. arms and equipment for the country since February 2022.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken made the announcement March 20, saying the "military assistance package includes more ammunition for U.S.-provided HIMARS and howitzers that Ukraine is using to defend itself, as well as ammunition for Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles, HARM missiles, anti-tank weapons, riverine boats, and other equipment."

A Department of Defense timeline of the Russian war on Ukraine reports that since the start of the Biden administration, the U.S. has committed approximately $30.4 billion in security assistance to Ukraine and more than $29.8 billion since the beginning of Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.  Since 2014, the U.S. has committed more than $32.4 billion to Ukraine, the timeline reports.

"Since Feb. 24, 2022, the United States and its allies and partners have provided equipment and training to Ukraine, capabilities necessary for Ukraine’s defense of its sovereign territory," the DOD states in the timeline. "This international security assistance has had a significant impact in defending against Russian aggression within Ukraine and preparing the Ukrainian armed forces for the fight ahead."

Blinken said in his remarks this week that the U.S. appreciates the 50 other countries who have also supported Ukraine's defense against the Russian aggression

"This week, Russia’s unconscionable war of aggression against Ukraine continues at great human cost," Blinken said in the news release, "we are again reminded of the boundless courage and steadfast resolve of the Ukrainian people, and the strong support for Ukraine across the international community."

“Russia alone could end its war today," Blinken said. "Until Russia does, we will stand united with Ukraine for as long as it takes."
