Department of Energy announces 7 new appointees

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced the appointment of seven new people by the Biden-Harris administration as well as five current appointees who are taking on new roles in the department. 

According to a DOE release, the appointments and promotions will give the department a diverse team that comprises 56% women, 57% individuals of color, and 21% who identify as LGBTQ+.

“Under the leadership of President Biden and Secretary Jennifer Granholm, the Department of Energy is working across the country to unleash the potential of clean energy in America and ensure our economic and national security,” DOE chief of staff Christopher Davis said in the release. “This new cohort further optimizes stellar team of appointees and career staff at the department to deliver on behalf of the country.”

According to the release by the DOE, the new appointees include Alexa Bishopric as special assistant in the Office of Electricity, Kerri Ebanks as digital content manager in the Office of Public Affairs, Claire Gibbs as special assistant to the chief of staff in the Office of the Secretary, Paige Nygaard as adviser in the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Lino Peña-Martinez as special assistant in the Office of Energy Jobs, Juaquín Robles as digital content manager in the Office of Public Affairs, and Samah Shaiq as deputy press secretary in the Office of Public Affairs. 

In addition, appointees taking new roles include Matthew Baca as new chief of staff in the Office of International Affairs, Cassidy Ballard the deputy director of scheduling and advance, Arpita Bhattacharyya the senior adviser and chief climate officer in the Loan Programs Office, Greg Degen the chief of staff in the Office of the Deputy Secretary, and Cambria Hayashino is the director of scheduling and advance in an unspecified office.
