The Heritage Foundation, a Washington, D.C.-based conservative think tank, announced it has hired John McEntee, who served as an aide to former President Donald Trump, to help shape staffing for the next Republican administration.

According to Real Clear Politics, the Heritage Foundation, which was founded 50 years ago, hired McEntee, who was dismissed by Trump in 2018 amid security clearance issues. McEntee rose to prominence in the conservative movement and played a role in Trump’s failed 2020 reelection bid.

"It's not enough for conservatives to win elections. We must ensure the right people — those who love this country and are willing to fight for her — are serving in the next conservative administration,” Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts said in a tweet on May 2. “We're proud to welcome John McEntee to the Project 2025 team.”

According to Real Clear Politics, in his new role, McEntee will work with the Center for Government Reform to target and vet individuals who may be nominated for key roles in a potential Republican administration. He has demonstrated experience in this area and will prove to be an asset to the Heritage Foundation as it continues its role in helping to shape conservative policy and staffing efforts.

Paul Dans, who serves as director of Project 2025, told Real Clear Politics that the organization is seeking people who would not be a part of the establishment, but are committed to the conservative agenda and who are battle-tested, with a resume to prove it. He told the news outlet that McEntee has a knack for identifying these people.

McEntee said his addition to the Heritage Foundation team will ensure they “bring the people that are a little more hard-line, who are going to go in there and kind of shake things up, because that's what we need," he told Real Clear Politics. "Conservatives think we're running out of time, which maybe we are, but I think the sooner we can get rolling on this, the better."

McEntee is also the founder and CEO of The Right Stuff, a dating app for conservatives.
