The 16th Americas Competitiveness Exchange took place in the greater Seattle region May 14-19.
The event brought together 50-60 senior-level government, business, policy and economic leaders from 22 countries, according to a May 12 news release.
“I’m thrilled that this year’s global ACE delegation will learn more about the greater Seattle’s thriving regional economy. ACE Greater Seattle will showcase world-leading industries and some of our country’s best examples of technology innovation, American ingenuity and business acumen,” Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo said in the release. “The relationships forged during this week are critical first steps in possible business, trade and investment partnership opportunities.”
The event, organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration, the U.S. Department of State and the Organization of American States, coordinated the event, which serves as a prominent network of the Americas, focusing on economic development, innovation and entrepreneurship, the release reported.
ACE serves as a platform for decision-makers across North, Central and South America to explore economic development opportunities and forge global partnerships, according to the release. This year, ACE Greater Seattle was hosted by the Puget Sound Regional Council in collaboration with the Washington State Department of Commerce.
Delegates, including ministers of trade, secretaries of economic development and ambassadors, will have the opportunity to visit more than 30 sites in the Seattle region, the release said. These visits will include engagement with innovation hubs, advanced technology centers, leading firms and educational and research institutions.
The primary focus of ACE Greater Seattle is to promote sustainable and inclusive economic development, strengthen supply chains and enhance trade and investment opportunities to foster competitiveness across the Americas, the release reported. By exchanging knowledge and building networks during the event, delegates aim to establish connections that will contribute to the overall growth and development of the participating countries and regions.
