Last week, Tennessee Representative Mark Green took to Twitter to denounce the recent espionage activities carried out by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
In addition, he emphasized his proposed legislation, known as the "China Technology Transfer Control Act," which aims to address the issue, according to his Twitter post.
"China is using our own technology to commit espionage; a serious threat to our national security," Green said in his June 29 Twitter post.

"This is exactly why I introduced my China Technology Transfer Control Act. We cannot sit idly by and let this happen."
Green's Twitter post linked to a FoxNews story published late last month that reported the Chinese spy balloon had U.S. tech to collect photos and other information but that the information is not thought to have been successfully sent to Beijing.
Green, who has represented Tennessee's 7th congressional district since 2019, chairs the House Committee on Homeland Security. Green re-introduced his China Technology Transfer Control Act, House Resolution 2594, into the House in April and it has been in the Foreign Affairs and Ways and Means committees ever since.
"We must ensure we aren’t giving the CCP the tools to harm our nation or its own people," said Green in April when he re-introduced his "China Technology Transfer Control Act," according to a press release.
"There’s no question about it; the Chinese Communist Party wants a weakened United States and an international order subservient to China’s interests. Turning a blind eye to this aggressive ambition on the world stage is a catastrophic mistake."
On February 4, off the coast of South Carolina, a huge balloon, approximately the size of three school buses, was intercepted and shot down.
According to reports, this balloon is suspected of gathering information from various American military sites.
Despite the accusations, Beijing has consistently denied any involvement in espionage activities through the balloon, claiming that it was a weather balloon that accidentally strayed from its intended course.
However, an examination of the balloon, which contained American and Chinese equipment, prove otherwise, according to Fox News.
"My bill controls U.S. exports of certain technology and intellectual property important to U.S. national interests to the People’s Republic of China," said Green.
"Through espionage and extensive intellectual property theft, the CCP and its network of state-sponsored enterprises have been able to gain a crucial advantage in developing advanced technologies. We cannot ignore this threat. If we do, Chinese spy balloons won’t be the only threat we have to worry about.”
