The European Commission recently released an updated report on China's economy, focusing particularly on the state-induced distortions brought about by legislation passed by the CCP. The report discovered that distortions in production factors, selected sectors, and cross-cutting distortions have resulted in an inefficient market within China. The discriminatory allocation of resources has adversely affected production factors, thereby diminishing the productivity of the economy.

In February of 2023, Krishnamoorthi was appointed as Ranking Member on the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party. This Select Committee was established with a mandate to research and formulate policies aimed at protecting U.S. economic, technological, and security interests in competition with the CCP. Furthermore, he serves as lead Democrat on an act titled 'Averting the National Threat of Internet Surveillance, Oppressive Censorship and Influence, and Algorithmic Learning by the Chinese Communist Party'.
