The U.S. Department of Energy recently announced nine new appointees from the Biden-Harris administration to join the department under Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm.
These new team members will advance President Joe Biden's climate and energy agenda and facilitate investments in national energy infrastructure, according to a July 7 news release. In addition to the new appointees, six current appointees are taking on new roles within the Department.
“The Department of Energy has a workforce of dedicated public servants, and we are thrilled to be growing the team with new appointees who are committed to President Biden’s goal that the transition to clean energy reaches, and lifts, every pocket of America,” DOE Chief of Staff Christopher Davis said in the release. “This cohort of talented individuals is arriving at DOE during a pivotal time as the Department, under Secretary Granholm’s leadership, implements the energy investments in the President’s Investing in America agenda.”
New appointees and their roles include Derrick Buechele Bhole as the special assistant for the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs, Sarah Butler as the director of the Office of the Executive Secretariat, John Farah as the oversight adviser for the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs and Deion Lemelle as director of scheduling in the Office of Management, the release said.
Dr. Ariel Marshall has been designated as the chief of staff for the Office of the Under Secretary for Science and Innovation, and Anna Newby will take on the position of director of public affairs for the National Nuclear Security Administration, the release reported. Additionally, Andrew Sacks will serve as the deputy speechwriter in the Office of Public Affairs, and Giulia Siccardo will be the director of the Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains.
Current workers taking on new roles include Christian Bato and Crystal Perkins as senior regional advisers in the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs, Rose Dady as director of community engagement in the Office of State and Community Energy Programs, Matt Dannenberg as senior Tribal liaison for Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs, Spender Thibodeau as deputy assistant secretary for Intergovernmental Affairs and Avi Zevin as principal deputy general counsel in the Office of the General Counsel, the release said.
