Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation has partnered with Binance, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world, to launch a project called IT Generation. Oleksandr Borniakov, Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation, said in a July blog post the project has helped to provide Ukrainians with professional skills and opportunities in the tech sector.
"IT Generation is one of the flagship projects of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, as the development of education for the future economic and technological growth of our country is crucial," Borniakov said, according to a July 24 Binance blog post. "We will continue to help talented Ukrainians build a successful career path in the promising technology industry."
The Binance Scholar Program and Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation launched IT Generation in June 2022, and the program has now concluded after impacting 2,200 students, according to the blog post. Binance Charity donated $1 million USD worth of stablecoins to fund the initiative, which was intended to help Ukrainians who lost their jobs due to the war learn new skills and re-enter the job market.
Binance's General Manager in Ukraine, Kyrylo Khomyakov, said he is proud of the impact the project has had, according to the blog post. "The IT Generation project has become an important milestone in our partnership with the Ministry of Digital Transformation. We are delighted that this project has demonstrated real value," Khomyakov said. Within three weeks of the project's conclusion in July 2023, 147 graduates of the program had already found jobs in the IT sector, including as project managers and JavaScript developers. "This accomplishment highlights the significant impact of the program on participants' career prospects and the IT industry at large," the blog post said.
One participant in the program was Olga Kornieieva, who has now landed her "dream role" as an IT Researcher at Forte Group, according to the blog post. "The training exceeded my expectations," Kornieieva said. "Delving into the fascinating world of IT and learning firsthand from seasoned professionals was a truly rewarding experience. I'm grateful for the opportunities provided by the project, which enabled me to transition into the IT sector and work in my desired field." Another IT Generation graduate is Oleksandra Dorokhova, who said, "The project offered valuable insights into the role of a business analyst, introducing me to essential tools that I could integrate into my work as a marketing analyst."
More than 57,000 people have graduated from Binance Scholar Program initiatives, according to Binance. In addition to Ukraine, there are programs in Georgia, France, West Africa, South Africa, Brazil, Cyprus, and Australia.
