The Biden-Harris Administration has announced $11.4 million in grants aimed at enhancing parent and family engagement in educational settings.

According to a press release issued by the United States Department of Education on October 11, 2023, the grants will be distributed among 12 groups that will cover a variety of states and school districts. These organizations will build on the Department's existing "Raising the Bar for Parent Partnership in Our Schools" projects, which are already in place.

Miguel Cardona, the current Secretary of Education for the United States of America, stated in a press release that "As a parent, teacher, and former principal, I've seen firsthand how strong and productive relationships between educators and families are the foundation of thriving school communities." According to a press release issued by the Department, the funds will be used to assist the Statewide Family Engagement Centers (SFEC) effort. This initiative's stated purpose is to increase the amount of parental involvement in the educational environments of their children.

The program is a component of a much bigger initiative, which, to this point, has invested over 83 million dollars in initiatives that are tied to it. SFEC services reportedly include "direct support to families for effective collaboration with schools and teachers," the creation of centralized information hubs, and the distribution of "actionable, easy-to-understand information" to parents, as stated in a press release issued by the United States Department of Education.

According to a press release from the United States Department of Education, several organizations, such as the Parent Institute for Quality Education in California, which is located in the state of California, earned $943,493; the Keystone Center in Colorado, which is located in the state of Colorado, received $873,508; and the University of South Carolina, which is located in the state of South Carolina, received $1,000,000.
