Humanitarian convoy reaches Gaza; United States, Egypt, Israel, and UN facilitate delivery

According to an official press statement, a 20-truck convoy of humanitarian aid has reached Gaza, marking the first such delivery since the war began. The initiative comes in response to the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, where residents are facing severe shortages of food, water, medical care, and safe housing.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken released a statement following the arrival of the convoy, emphasizing the importance of providing assistance to the people of Gaza. He stated, "Palestinian civilians are not responsible for Hamas's horrific terrorism, and they should not be made to suffer for its depraved acts."

The United States collaborated with Egypt, Israel, and the United Nations to ensure the safe passage of the convoy through the Rafah border crossing. This significant development is the result of sustained U.S. diplomatic efforts, which were further intensified during recent talks between Secretary Blinken and leaders in the region.

In addition to facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid, the United States is actively working to ensure the safe exit of U.S. citizens and their immediate family members from Gaza. U.S. Embassy teams in Cairo are prepared to provide necessary assistance to these American citizens and are also coordinating with countries that have nationals in Gaza.

The United States continues its diplomatic efforts with Egypt and Israel to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those who need it the most. The emphasis is on adherence to the law of war and the protection of civilian lives.

The United States urges all parties involved to keep the Rafah crossing open for the ongoing movement of vital humanitarian aid. It is crucial to ensure that the people of Gaza receive the necessary assistance to alleviate their suffering.
