The United States Department of Transportation initiative aims to improve road safety, mobility, and efficiency.

On October 27, 2023, the United States Department of Transportation said that V2X technology would enable vehicles, wireless devices, and roadside infrastructure to communicate with one another in order to offer drivers with alerts and notifications regarding a range of driving conditions. The National Roadway Safety Strategy of the United States Department of Transportation and its Safe System Approach to lowering the number of fatalities caused by automobile accidents inspired the creation of this grant.

Pete Buttigieg, the Secretary of Transportation for the United States of America, has stated that "We can and must use all the tools at our disposal to reduce the devastating loss of life on our nation's roadways." It is impossible to exaggerate the potential importance of linked vehicle technology in terms of saving lives.

The cash will reportedly be put toward the dissemination of V2X technologies that are capable of communicating with one another independent of the hardware that they are integrated into. This attitude was mirrored by Shailen Bhatt, administrator of the federal highway system, who said, "Accelerating V2X deployment now is a crucial step toward saving lives."

According to the news release, the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) intends to submit a draft of the V2X Deployment Plan for public review in order to solicit views from stakeholders about statewide interoperable connectivity. We hope to have a finished draft by the beginning of the year 2024.

With this investment, the United States will be able to begin taking the essential steps toward attaining its objective of national interoperable connection by analyzing risks, eliminating hurdles, and supporting preliminary installations. This goal has been set by the United States. With this expenditure, the federal government of the United States is taking a proactive step in improving the mobility and safety of the nation's roadways.
