Amazon employees across the globe participated in 3,000 events for Amazon's Global Month of Volunteering

For Amazon's Global Month of Volunteering, tens of thousands of employees around the globe participated in volunteerism efforts to support the cause. The Global Month of Volunteering has an initiative dedicated to building stronger communities in the cities and towns where employees work. According to a press release on Amazon's website, "Amazon employees across the globe participated in 3,000 events for Amazon's Global Month of Volunteering."

Tens of thousands of Amazon employees from 51 countries around the globe participated in Amazon's Global Month of Giving, an initiative that is dedicated to building stronger communities in the cities where employees live and work. The month-long event saw employees engaging in various volunteerism efforts to make a positive impact in their communities.

"Giving back is an important part of our culture and an example of how Amazon uses its scale for good," said Andy Jassy, Amazon CEO, who participated in Amazon's volunteer event with Clean the World, a nonprofit that builds and donates hygiene kits to organizations supporting disaster relief efforts around the world. In Seattle, workers volunteered with Clean the World to build and deliver more than 90,000 hygiene kits to Puget Sound organizations, according to a press release on Amazon's website. Recycled soap and hygiene supplies were provided to people who have limited access to essential items that help prevent diseases and illnesses.

According to the Amazon press release, Amazon workers in Costa Rica, Germany, India, Italy, Spain, The Philippines, and The United Kingdom all participated in various volunteerism efforts throughout the month. In Germany, Amazon employees in Munich and Berlin packed 40,000 care kits, working in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration and Save the Children Germany. The kits are going to be distributed to families displaced by wildfires in Greece, Italy, and Spain, as well as by the floods in Slovenia. In the Philippines, Amazon partnered with Cribs Foundation Inc. to help provide a memorable experience for foster children by taking them to the Avilon Zoo. The workers who volunteered helped the kids learn about animals while promoting positive community engagement.

Amazon's headquarters is located in Seattle, Washington, and this branch had nearly 400 Amazon employees helping clean up neighborhood parks around Seattle to promote a clean, peaceful park experience. "Volunteering is a great opportunity to connect with Amazon team members who have similar interest and are dedicated to the same causes as you are, said Yaminee Patel, lead project manager of launch strategy at Amazon. "It is a way to invest in the community and help make our cities better and safer places." In Seattle, Amazon has allocated $525 million into the Housing Equity Fund since launching it in 2021, which has supported the construction of over 5,300 units in the Puget Sound Region.
