Over 220 pounds of fentanyl and methamphetamine laced pills have been seized on the North Shore of Massachusetts, marking what is believed to be one of the largest single-location seizures in New England.
The Department of Justice released a press report detailing the seizure which accounted for over 220 pounds of controlled substances. "With an estimated 10 million doses of controlled substances found. The drugs taken have a street value of up to $8 million", said the Department of Justice. Three men, Emilio Garcia, Sebastien Bejin, and Deiby Felix were arrested for operating this large-scale trafficking organization located on the North Shore of Massachusetts. Each was charged with one count of possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute. Garcia and Bejin each had an additional charge of conspiracy. Investigators were led to this drug operation after investigating a drug overdose death that occurred in Salem, Massachusetts in July of 2023.
Included in the seizure were 22 pounds of white powder meth and cocaine, 37 pounds of raw meth, 280,000 counterfeit Percocet pills, 59 pounds of Adderall pills, and four pounds of brown rock that tested positive for cocaine, fentanyl, and meth. These items were discovered in the basement of a two-family residential home occupied by multiple families and small children. According to the press release from DOJ, Garcia, Bejin and Felix face maximum penalties if convicted - up to 20 years imprisonment each, three years supervised release and fines up to $250k each. In addition to these narcotics seizures five firearms were also seized during these searches.
FBI Director Christopher Wray lauded this achievement as more than just enforcement action but also life-saving activity: “This seizure by the FBI’s North Shore Gang Task Force saved lives in communities throughout Massachusetts”, said FBI Director Christopher Wray. “Not only was this seizure one of the largest in the history of Massachusetts but some pills were made resembling candy presenting an enormous risk to children. The FBI will continue to relentlessly pursue those involved in narcotics trafficking to keep drugs off our streets, and out of the hands of children," Wray further added.
