ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and House Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer have requested transcribed interviews with Blue Star Strategies' Chief Executive Officer Karen Tramontano and Chief Operating Officer Sally Painter. The Committees have obtained information suggesting that Blue Star Strategies was involved in the arrangement between Hunter Biden and Burisma.

In a letter addressed to Karen Tramontano, Chairman Jordan and Chairman Comer stated, "The information available to the Committees suggests that Blue Star Strategies was involved in the arrangement between Hunter Biden and Burisma." The letter further revealed that Hunter Biden and his business associate, Devon Archer, connected Burisma to Blue Star Strategies in October 2015 for lobbying work. The Committees have obtained emails indicating that Hunter Biden played a significant role in convincing Burisma to retain Blue Star's services, with the "ultimate purpose" being to "close down . . . any cases/pursuits against [Burisma founder and owner] Nikolay [Zlochevsky] in Ukraine."

The Committees have also learned that while representing Burisma, Blue Star Strategies utilized Hunter Biden's name and association with the company to secure meetings with senior State Department officials. One example cited in the letter is a meeting on December 10, 2015, between Karen Tramontano, Sally Painter, and Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs Amos Hochstein. This meeting was sought to address concerns raised by then-U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt regarding Burisma. Subsequently, Tramontano and Painter met with Ambassador Pyatt on December 16, 2015, to discuss the basis of his position on Burisma. Another meeting took place on March 1, 2016, between Tramontano and Under Secretary of State Catherine Novelli to discuss the State Department's stance on Burisma.

The purpose of these transcribed interviews is to gather specialized information that could potentially advance the impeachment inquiry and contribute to legislative reforms. Chairman Jordan and Chairman Comer believe that Tramontano and Painter possess crucial insights that can shed light on the involvement of Blue Star Strategies in the Hunter Biden-Burisma arrangement.

The full letter to Karen Tramontano can be accessed here, while the letter to Sally Painter can be accessed here.

These interviews are part of the ongoing efforts to investigate the circumstances surrounding Hunter Biden's involvement with Burisma and to ensure transparency and accountability in the legislative process.
