The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) has declared that Leon Cooperman, the Founder of Omega Advisors and Chairman and CEO of Omega Family Office, has been appointed to its board of trustees. This announcement comes as CSIS is gearing up to enhance its focus on international commerce and economics.

According to a press release from CSIS, Cooperman established Omega Advisors, Inc., in 1991. He assumed the role of chairman and CEO when the investment-management firm transitioned into Omega Family Office in 2018. Prior to founding Omega Advisors, Cooperman was a partner at Goldman Sachs for 15 years, where he also served as chairman and chief executive officer of Goldman Sachs Asset Management. His professional achievements have earned him numerous awards. In addition to his business accomplishments, he has held leadership positions at institutions such as Columbia University Graduate School of Business, Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and the Endowment Fund Board of Horatio Alger Association.

John J. Hamre, President and CEO of CSIS said in the press release: "CSIS has decided to significantly strengthen its focus on international commerce and economics. Cooperman's life-long experience as an analyst and investor will greatly aid us as we build our geoeconomics program in coming years."

As stated on the CSIS Board of Trustees webpage, this board boasts more than 40 distinguished trustees under the chairmanship of Thomas J. Pritzker.

"I am honored to join CSIS’s Board of Trustees and look forward to the opportunity to support the Center’s continued success and growth in the critical areas of international commerce and economics," said Cooperman in the press release.
