Speaker Johnson, Leader Schumer, Leader McConnell, and Leader Jeffries, along with House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Granger and Ranking Member DeLauro, and Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Murray and Vice Chair Collins, issued a joint statement on the FY24 Appropriations Agreement. The leaders emphasized the importance of bipartisan cooperation in funding the government, stating, "We are in agreement that Congress must work in a bipartisan manner to fund our government."

The agreement reached includes funding for six bills: Agriculture-FDA, Commerce-Justice and Science, Energy and Water Development, Interior, Military Construction-VA, and Transportation-HUD. The statement mentioned that these bills will adhere to the Fiscal Responsibility Act discretionary spending limits and January’s topline spending agreement.

Regarding the remaining six Appropriations bills, which include Defense, Financial Services and General Government, Homeland Security, Labor-HHS, Legislative Branch, and State and Foreign Operations, the leaders indicated that they will be finalized, voted on, and enacted prior to March 22.

In order to allow the House and Senate Appropriations Committees sufficient time to finalize the deal, a short-term continuing resolution will be necessary to fund agencies through March 8 and 22. The statement highlighted the importance of providing members with 72 hours to review the proposed legislation.

The leaders of the 118th Congress are committed to ensuring that the government is funded in a timely and responsible manner, demonstrating a shared dedication to the appropriations process.
