RFK Jr.'s VP, Nicole Shanahan: children have 'endured unspeakable cruelty at the hands of the cartels who are leveraging our current border policies to exploit them'

Nicole Shanahan, the associate of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., stated that children are undergoing "unspeakable cruelty at the hands of the cartels," who are manipulating policies at the southern border. Shanahan conveyed her remarks in a post on April 12 on X.

"The darkest part of the border crisis is the abuse of children," said Shanahan, Robert F. Kennedy's VP, according to X. "Director Tori B. walked me through Amberly's Place, the only bastion of hope for children after they've endured unspeakable cruelty at the hands of the cartels who are leveraging our current border policies to exploit them."

According to Shanahan, Amberly's Place is aiding children who have been victimized by cartels, as shown in a video shared on X.

Amberly's Place is an advocacy center located in Yuma, Arizona. The organization offers an innovative and multi-disciplinary approach to investigate, prosecute and intervene in cases of child sexual and/or physical abuse, domestic violence, elder abuse, sexual assault and human trafficking. This information is according to their official website. Amberly's Place collaborates with law enforcement agencies, social services and mental health professionals.

A report from Insight Crime suggests that organized crime groups are profiting from human trafficking along the U.S.-Mexico border. Smaller criminal factions often collaborate with local corrupt officials to carry out their human trafficking operations. Human trafficking is most directly linked to migrant smuggling when large groups of people migrate from South or Central America to the United States. Migrants frequently become indebted to cartels or human smugglers and are forced to repay this debt through sex or labor exploitation.

Shanahan is also recognized as the founder and president of Bia-Echo Foundation, as per her LinkedIn profile.
