Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs Michele Sison is set to embark on a significant diplomatic trip to Europe. Starting April 22nd, Sison will visit Bern, Geneva, Rome, and Vatican City until April 30th.
The purpose of the trip is clear as Sison is scheduled to engage in a series of high-level meetings and discussions. According to sources, she will be meeting with her Swiss counterparts in Bern to discuss UN and multilateral cooperation. In Geneva, Sison will take part in the Consultative Level Meeting of the Geneva Group on UN governance and management, where she will also interact with leaders of various UN agencies.
Moving on to Rome, the Assistant Secretary will have important meetings lined up with key organizations such as the World Food Program, International Fund for Agricultural Development, and Food and Agricultural Organization. Additionally, she is expected to meet with Ministry of Foreign Affairs counterparts during her stay in the Italian capital.
A particularly notable part of Sison's itinerary includes a visit to Vatican City, where she will hold discussions with the Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States. The focus of this meeting will be to address a range of humanitarian issues, underscoring the significance of international cooperation and dialogue in addressing pressing global challenges.
