DALLAS, TEXAS (April 23, 2024) - The Biden-Harris Administration has announced that two Texas groups will receive over $405 million to deliver residential solar, lower energy costs, and advance environmental justice. The Texas Solar For All Coalition will receive $249.7 million, and the Clean Energy Fund of Texas will receive $156.120 million through the Solar for All grant competition.

EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan expressed the significance of this initiative, stating, "Today we’re delivering on President Biden’s promise that no community is left behind by investing $7 billion in solar energy projects for over 900,000 households in low-income and disadvantaged communities."

Harris County Administrator Diana Ramirez also shared her enthusiasm, calling the grant a "game-changing opportunity" for their community.

Billy Briscoe, from the Clean Energy Fund of Texas, expressed gratitude to the EPA for selecting their project and highlighted the multifaceted benefits it will bring, including lowering energy burdens for low-income communities and jumpstarting the green economy.

The grants are part of the $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, created under President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, aiming to lower energy costs, create jobs, advance environmental justice, and combat climate change. The selected groups in Texas will develop long-lasting solar programs to benefit low-income and disadvantaged communities.

The Solar for All program aligns with President Biden’s goal of achieving a carbon pollution-free power sector by 2035 and a net-zero emissions economy by 2050. The $7 billion investment is expected to generate savings on electric bills, reduce carbon emissions, and create over 200,000 jobs across the country.

The selected Texas groups will work on deploying residential solar projects, providing workforce training, supporting minority-owned businesses, and collaborating with community organizations to enhance energy resilience and reduce emissions. The program will focus on delivering benefits to marginalized communities and expanding affordable solar energy access.

Overall, the Solar for All program in Texas represents a significant step towards achieving environmental and economic sustainability while promoting equity and clean energy initiatives.
