WASHINGTON - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the creation of the Environmental Justice Clearinghouse, an online collection of resources dedicated to environmental justice issues. The initiative aims to provide the public with access to federal and non-federal online resources as part of President Biden's ambitious program to ensure environmental justice.
Teresa Segovia, Deputy Assistant Director of the Office of Environmental Justice and Civil Rights, expressed, "The implementation of the ambitious Biden-Harris Administration program for environmental justice requires a joint commitment to fostering close collaboration and implementing programs aimed at addressing environmental issues. The Environmental Justice Clearinghouse is a fundamentally new resource designed to help us achieve our organizational goals in the field of environmental justice." Segovia also highlighted, "The availability of an easily accessible online information library will allow all participants and supporters of environmental justice to have resources from across the country at their fingertips. And it will only expand thanks to the initiatives of the American people."
Furthermore, Dr. Jalon L. White-Newsom, the White House Council on Environmental Quality's Chief Federal Environmental Justice Specialist, emphasized the importance of the EPA's Environmental Justice Clearinghouse, stating that it will serve as a valuable online tool that brings together numerous sources of information to help anyone interested in environmental justice find materials on one site.
The EPA will continuously update the Environmental Justice Clearinghouse with new materials and welcomes initiatives from the public for consideration and possible inclusion. The platform initially includes resources from federal agencies, funding opportunities, analysis and planning tools, technical assistance, and search categories to streamline information retrieval on environmental justice matters.
President Biden's commitment to removing barriers to resources and information for communities pursuing environmental justice is reflected in the creation of the EPA's Environmental Justice Clearinghouse. The portal aligns with the administration's dedication to environmental justice principles and serves as a centralized hub for information on the topic.
