Department of Labor to Host Online Wage Seminars on Prevailing Wage Requirements

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

The Department of Labor has announced that it will be offering online seminars in May and August on prevailing wage requirements for federally funded projects. The seminars aim to educate contracting agencies, contractors, unions, workers, and other stakeholders on meeting federal requirements for paying prevailing wages on construction and service contracts.

According to Wage and Hour Administrator Jessica Looman, "Prevailing wage laws empower workers by ensuring that federally funded construction and service jobs are good jobs with fair wages and benefits." The online seminars will cover topics such as the labor standards protections in the Davis-Bacon Act and the Service Contract Act, as well as how the department sets and administers prevailing wages.

The day-long seminars will be held on May 15 and August 29 from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. EDT. While the seminars are free to attend, registration is required. Registered participants will receive additional information and links to access the online seminars.

The Department of Labor's initiative is part of their efforts to increase awareness and improve compliance with prevailing wage requirements, especially in light of the Biden-Harris administration's historic investments in infrastructure projects. Stakeholders are encouraged to sign up for the seminars to gain a better understanding of the labor standards protections critical to these investments.

For those interested in participating in the online wage seminars, they can sign up to receive event updates and learn more about the requirements for federal contractors.
